Events

Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to organise an event at the Chapel (which must be religious, educational, or cultural to fulfil the purposes of the Trust). Visits can be arranged outside the regular opening times by phoning 01423-861584 or 01423-865751 or e-mailing via this website or cragchapel@gmail.com.

Chapel Regular Opening

The Chapel is open on Sundays, 2-4 p.m. through the summer months, April to September. (It will also be open at various times when trustees and volunteers are working on the site, but this cannot be scheduled in advance.)

Prayer Group at the Chapel

NB It is not meeting during the winter. It will start again in April, first Friday of the month, 2-4 p.m.

Public services at the Chapel

Space is limited because of the size of the shrine, so please let us know in advance if you intend to come (e-mail contact@chapelofourladyofthecrag.org or cragchapel@gmail.com or Peter on 01423 866080). Include any details of everyone who is coming: just the name and any special needs, e.g. difficulty in climbing the steps or the need for a seat.

Note also that you will probably need to park cars half a mile away at the public car park on Waterside, and there is no toilet on site (although some available not too far away).

If you do not know the Chapel, note that there are a few steep steps at the entrance.

Location

Abbey Road, Knaresborough HG5 8HY. The Chapel is about 150 yards on the left down Abbey Road from the Low Bridge/Briggate end. There is a car park half a mile down Waterside (the road opposite Abbey Road across Briggate that continues up the river towards the castle). Coaches and larger vehicles should park at the High Bridge on Harrogate Road.
